A warm welcome to Casa del Tempio, a beautifully and lovingly restored, fully furnished, traditional Italian house which nestles amongst similarly styled houses deep in the heart of the historic Old Town of Casoli, Chieti, Italy.
The house is in a quiet location and the substantial stone walls keep the house cool in the summer whilst keeping the warmth from the log burner in during the colder winter months. Roam through the ancient winding streets, discover historic Italian courtyards, wander through the medieval castle and experience an Italy as far removed from tourism as can be found.
Just 30 minutes’ drive to the fabulous clear blue waters of the Trabocchi Coast on the Adriatic Sea, you will discover sandy beaches running along a mild sea which is perfect for swimming. Here you will find the trabocci (from which derives the name 'Trabocchi Coast'), traditional lodges built on stilts for the Abruzzo fishermen to catch shallow water sealife. Many of these trabocci have been converted into seafood restaurants offering you a unique dining experience both day and night.
Located just outside of the Maiella National Park (10 km from the park border) you are surrounded by beautiful countryside: mountains, forests, rivers and meadows, with the local area offering horse riding excursions within the National Park, rafting and kayaking on the Aventino river or if nature is your interest there are many wild birds, exotic flowers and native wild animals inhabiting the park.
The property has been completely renovated, is equipped and furnished for the comfort of our guests and accommodates 2 people.
Click on the buttons below to see our house, the town and the Abruzzo region. We have included just a few photos because we think that exploring for yourself is a big part of any holiday and there is so much to explore in both the town and region.
This beautifully and lovingly restored traditional Italian Town house has been transformed from a shell of a building (albeit a sturdy shell, having walls 3 feet thick) into fully modernised and comfortable accommodation, keeping the charm of the surrounding houses on the exterior whilst offering a bright, cool and comfortable interior which has retained its traditional ceilings plus the original stone façade in the spacious bedroom, located on the first floor.
Below is a list of the house’s key items and equipment. However, if you have requests for items not listed we will try to provide them where possible.
Casoli is easily accessible from various airports including Pescara (52km), Bari (277km), Naples (182km) and Rome Ciampino (228km). Airport transfers can also be arranged with a local company.
The property is situated right at the heart of Old town Casoli, just down from the majestic Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore (dating back to the Mid15th Century). To the left of the church is a short walk up to the ducal castle of Casoli (also called Masciantonio castle). Wander through the historic alleyways and courtyards of medieval Casoli before meandering down to the more modern town where you’ll find shops, gelataria (ice-cream shops), bars, delicatessens and a variety of other shops (Casoli is the main town for 24km).
